After James received notice that constituents would no longer be able to collect undelivered items from Great Wakering Post Office, he started a campaign to keep the service local. Over 500 residents signed the petitions from James that were delivered to shops and businesses in the High Street and a meeting was held between Royal Mail and the Subpostmaster at James' offices.
It has today been announced that a local solution has been agreed for collection of undelivered items and that collection will be staying at Great Wakering Post Office. This is great news for Royal Mail, the Post Office and of course the constituents.
James said:
“I am absolutely delighted that together a local solution has been agreed for the residents of Wakering. Undelivered parcels will remain able to be collected from Wakering Post Office. I would like to express my thanks to both Royal Mail and the Post Office for working together for the benefit of the local community.
I would also like to thank the residents who got behind my campaign and signed the petition. Together, with everyone focusing on the community, we secured a fantastic result for the residents.”
