Dear Resident,
First of all, I would like to say a big ‘Thank You’! for re-electing me as your Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East. Here’s to another 5 years of fighting for you in Parliament, representing your interests and being your champion for local issues. I am so glad to be back as your MP and look forward to spending the next 5 years making sure the voice of Rochford and Southend East is heard in Westminster.
It was a fantastic result for the Conservative Party nationally, and also locally. I’d like to say a huge welcome back to Southend Borough Council to Cllr Tony Cox and Cllr Roger Hadley who fought exceedingly hard in West Shoebury and Shoeburyness wards respectively to win back their seats. I would also like to offer my congratulations to Cllr Ann Holland, Cllr Derek Jarvis and Cllr Jonathan Garston who all held their seats in Southend and to Cllr Colin Seagers, Cllr Mike Steptoe and Cllr Keith Gordon who will all remain in post as councillors on Rochford District Council.
I am now back in the House of Commons and this is the first time I have been an MP and we have a Conservative Majority government. It is an exciting time to be in politics and I know that the hard work has only just begun. I was delighted to have been re-appointed as a Minister within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office upon returning to Parliament.
I have already had some very busy constituency days and I was thrilled to be able to support Southend United when they saw off the competition in their Wembley qualifier. I am keeping everything crossed for this momentous match! Come on the Shrimpers!
Until next time.
James
