Sir James Duddridge KCMG, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, visited the Inshore Southend RNLI Station to present a cheque to Tony Clarke, Vice Chairman of Southend RNLI fundraising, following confirmation that they have received the monies raised from his London Marathon in April.
Sir James completed the London Marathon in five and a half hours, raising a total of £4,775 for Southend RNLI. Being his fifth London Marathon, Sir James has now raised a total of £13,194 for local and national causes.
As part of Sir James’ fundraising drive, he undertook a charity shift at local travel insurance broker, InsureandGo. During the shift, InsureandGo confirmed that they would match any money raised by their staff, the grand final total being £1600.
Commenting, Sir James said,
“I am taken aback by how much I was able to raise for the fantastic team at Southend RNLI, and I am pleased that they have now received the money. I couldn’t have done it without the superb support I received ahead of the London Marathon.”
